Working with the Manchester Fringe has been an incredible privilege. From playwrights showcasing their latest works to comedians trying out new acts, the Fringe offers a unique level of complexity. Time is always short for designing the lighting for these productions, demanding quick thinking and creative solutions to bring each vision to life.
Crafting light with Catherine Cropper
Some of my biggest challenges, and most rewarding experiences, have come from collaborating with the incredible writer Catherine Cropper. Her writing is phenomenal, and she masterfully adds layers to her storytelling with colour and shadows. We often only have weeks to design and polish the lighting for her shows, but we have consistently managed to deliver above expectations, enhancing the narrative with every cue.
